Meteor Shower Watch Party

Explore the Night Sky at Our 3rd Annual Meteor Shower Watch Party!
Hosted by the Illinois Grand Prairie Master Naturalists in collaboration with the Prairie Lands Foundation

Enjoy an evening under the stars in awe of celestial discovery on Saturday, July 26, from 8:30 to 10:30 PM at the Fugate Woods Preserve. Local astronomer Paul Pouliot will be our “Guide to the Sky,” helping us explore the wonders above—from streaking meteors to the mysterious parent comets that spawn them. Whether you're a seasoned stargazer or just curious about the night sky, this is a perfect opportunity to learn, look up, and be amazed.

✨ Bring a blanket or lawn chair, a warm drink, bug spray, and a flashlight.
🔭 Telescope viewing provided
🌌 This event is open to all! We ask that children attending are 5 and up.

We will be meeting at the south side of the preserve, near the Boy Scout Pavilion. To reach the parking area from Fairbury, head east on US 24. Before PTC Alliance, turn left onto N 2300 E Rd, then right onto E 900 N Rd. Turn left at a gate manned by volunteers and follow the grass road to the pavilion.

No restroom is available at this location.
